Using affiliate marketing to monetise archival content
Here at idio we are always interested in new ways of monetising content. The recently released service Skimlinks ( from Skimbit founder Alicia Navarro) smooths the affiliate marketing process by turning the normal retailer links found in editorial content into affiliate links automatically.
Most interestingly for us – as we just love to exploit archival content- once the service is set up, all old content pages will also work with the Skimlinks program. Many bloggers will of course eschew this kind of system, as it risks their readers attributing a lack of independence to the opinions offered, but if the stage is reached where most merchants are signed up to affiliate programs, this will become less of an issue.
